As the first phase, Induction is the most crucial and most restrictive portion of the Atkins diet. This phase should be followed for a period of two weeks. During induction the dieter can consume only about 20 grams of carbohydrates on a day to day basis. The goal is to enter a fat burning metabolic phase called ketosis when the body, starved of glucose, will begin converting stored fat into fatty acids needed to power the body. Weight loss during this phase can be extreme - some Atkins followers reported losses of 5-10 pounds a week.

Learning the ideal carbohydrate levels for weight losing and for day to day intake after the weight loss ends are the purposes of the final three phases in the Atkins diet. The diet lost popularity after Dr. Atkins died, but it’s still popular.

The subconscious mind for losing your body Fat

Friday, February 27th, 2009

What you think about repetitively every day is eventually accepted by your subconscious mind and your subconscious mind guides your lose belly fat actions on “automatic.” This is the basis for the whole positive thinking movement. People who say that positive thinking, affirmations and autosuggestions don’t work for them aren’t using them appropriately or consistently; they’re canceling out every positive command with a negative command. If a captain gave an order, “Go east,” but then kept shifting his mind; “No, go west…no, go north, etc.,” the ship would never get anywhere! That’s why most people don’t get anyplace in their fitness, bodybuilding or weight loss endeavors, either. Ironically, the very statement “positive thinking doesn’t work” is a negative assertion that guarantees it won’t work!

Dr. Maxwell Maltz, author of the awesome book, Psycho Cybernetics, described the human brain and nervous system as a “ideal goal-striving servo-mechanism.” This mechanism helps you achieve your goals much like a self-guided torpedo or missile seeks out its aim and steers its way to it. Like the torpedo, the goal-striving mechanism of your brain can just work in your favor if you’ve specified a target. Without a target, your mental “servo-mechanism” will simply steer you towards your main thoughts. The subconscious mind is always at work 24 hours a day whether you direct it on deliberately or not. Denis Waitley says, “Since we become what we think of most of the time, whatever we are thinking of now, we are instinctively moving toward the achievement of that thought.

For an alcoholic, this could be the another drink – for a drug addict, the next fix – for a surfer, the next wave. Divorce, bankruptcy, and sickness are all goals spawned out of negative attitudes and thought patterns.” Because of the way your subconscious works, it’s extremely important for you to focus the entire your thoughts on what you want to achieve, not on what you want to avoid. This is not mere semantics; it’s a very vital distinction. If I ask you to close your eyes and not to think about monkeys, you’ll (mentally) see monkeys everywhere. You can’t NOT think about something! You either think about something or you don’t. And you always move toward what you think about the most, apart from whether it’s positive or negative.

Like the soil, your subconscious mind is completely impartial – it doesn’t discriminate. In it will grow whatever seeds you plant there or allow to be planted there. Lots of people have perfectly good intentions, but they unwittingly allow their subconscious to work against themselves by focusing on what they don’t want. And, as metaphysical writer Louise Hay reminds us, “The more you dwell on what you don’t want the more of it you create.” Others simply not obey to their thoughts whatsoever, and like a garden that’s neglected, soon enough, weeds start growing. Eventually, the weeds conquest your garden. All day long you carry on a mental conversation with yourself. Psychologists figure out that we think up to 60,000 thoughts a day and that 98% of these thoughts are the same ones we had yesterday – mainly negative.

In a year, that’s nearly 22 million thoughts! If Madison Avenue advertising giants can influence your subconscious mind to make a buying result by repeating an ad a mere two dozen times (they can), then just imagine the impact that millions of your own thought commands have on manipulating your subconscious mind – it’s staggering! That’s why it’s so important for you to take conscious control over your lose belly fat mental dialogue and program your brain with positive targets. Fortunately, the one thing in life you always have 100% total control over is your thoughts. If you want to be winning in losing body fat or any other endeavor in life, you must master your communication with yourself. You must take over of your self-talk, “police” you’re thinking, and literally re-program your brain for success. If you’ve cluttered your brainpower with a lifetime of “Stinkin Thinkin,” as Mr. Ziglar calls it, this may be difficult at first. It will take time to erase the old programming, but it can be done.

Objectives in every Workout and every Meal counts

Friday, February 27th, 2009

First set a long-term target; your ultimate outcome. What kind of body do you ultimately want to have? Let your imagination run wild and have the guts to dream. Don’t listen to anyone who says it can’t be done! You can’t afford to associate with negative people who always strive to tear you down. If you really want it badly and you’re willing to work for it, then go ahead and set the goal. Next, set a one-year goal. A one-year lose belly fat target is especially important if you have a lot of work to do.

For example, if your primary goal is to lose one hundred pounds, that’s at least a twelve-month project. Don’t expect or even attempt to do it any faster. Most likely the most important goal you can have at any time is your three-month goal. Three months is the ideal time frame for your short-term goal because a lot can happen in three months. Most people can completely transform their bodies in 90 days.

A sensible and realistic 90-day objective would be to lose up to 6% body fat and 12 to 24 pounds. The three-month goal is important because long-term objectives don’t have any urgency. A one-year goal is so distant, you may find that you tend to procrastinate more without the imminent deadline. There’s a law in psychology called “Parkinson’s Law,” which says, “A task takes as long as there is time to do it.” Another way stated, “Work always expands to fill the time allowed.”

Deadlines are motivating. Lacking time pressure, you’ll rationalize missing workouts or cheating on your diet: Your brain will keep saying, “You have abundance of time, so missing this one workout won’t matter.” With a deadline right in front of you, you’ll know that every workout and every meal counts. You also require to have weekly goals to let you know if you’re on track. Weekly goals provide instant feedback to tell you whether you’re moving in the right direction.

Each week you should weigh yourself and have your body composition considered with skinfolds. If you’re getting the results you want, you simply continue doing what you’ve been doing. If you’re not seeing the results you want, you can instant adjust your training or nutrition to get yourself back on course. (See chapter four for more information on how to chart your improvement and adjust your approach). To reach your weekly, three-month, twelve-month and ultimate lose belly fat objectives, you must develop good habits every day.

You develop good habits by setting daily action goals and working on them frequently until they become as routine as brushing your teeth or taking a shower. Ninety-nine percent of the actions you take every day are behavior. Write out a list of daily goals, to-do’s and habits you want to develop - good daily habits that serve you – habits like eating small, regular meals, cutting down on sugar, getting up early, Making your meals in advance for each day and so on.

Long-term objectives are important, but they can be intimidating and discouraging if you don’t have small daily goals, too. If you only watch the “big picture,” it can sometimes be unsettling to realize how much farther you have to go. There’s an old saying about tackling big tasks: “The only way to gobble an elephant is one bite at a time.” When your larger goals are broken down into smaller parts and you focus on each little step one at a time, you won’t be besieged. “By the mile it’s a trial, by the yard it’s hard, but by the inch it’s a cinch.” Take baby steps. Any step you take, no matter how small, will give you a feeling of accomplishment and keep your momentum going.

Dealing With Weight Loss And Diets & Online Diets

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Want to weight loss and diets for a hifh school reunion, a trip to the beach, or just for your own peace of mind? While there are many ways to shed weight quickly, losing it too fast can be a shock to your body and thus a danger. Fad diets, diet pills, extreme fasting and other fast weight loss methods may work but they can also cause you to lose muscle, counter productive to a long term weight loss program, and can cause damage to your heart and other internal organs. Here are some tips to safely lose weight fast.

Since losing weight is simply expending more calories than you take in, figure out exactly what you take in. Carry a small notebook for a week to record everything you eat. That means everything, every morsel, every sample, every sip of water. Then write down the calories in each of these foods and drinks. There are many websites about diabetic weight loss diets that can help with this.

Once you have a list of all the calories you consume to aid with your diet plans look for ways to cut them. This can be as simple as cutting down on portion sizes. Remember, most restaurants and even people at home serve portions that are far larger than they need to be. There are a lot of other easy cuts that don’t significantly change what you eat. These include salad dressing, butter, candies, and juice or soda. The average American consumes 240 calories a day from juice and soda. That’s 90,000 calories a year – 25 pounds! Simply switching to water as a main drink is a big step in weight loss. Also note that empty calories such as sugars and white breads (carbohydrates) are the first things to cut. These can easily be replaced with sugar substitutes and whole grain breads.

An easy place to target for calorie reduction is the side dish. This part of the meal is often a minefield of bad food choices including French Fries, macaroni and cheese and potato salad. Replace these foods with healthy alternatives such as steamed vegetables, cottage cheese, or salad (minus dressing.)

Pumping iron increases lean muscle mass, which increases your metabolism. It’s a decent calorie burner when it comes to healthy weight loss diets , but will help you burn calories even when not exercising. Aerobic exercise is the best for calorie and fat burning. Many experts say to perform aerobic activity for 30 minutes a day 3-5 days a week. Hog wash! Make it seven days a week, which means an activity you can sustain day after day for the rest of your life. There’s the plan to lose weight fast. Now get moving!

Measure your Fat Loss improvement using Body Composition testing

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

The first step is simply to befall lose belly fat conscious of what you are thinking. Become aware of your thoughts. Bob Proctor, a master success coach and author of the Goal Achiever program, suggests saying “NEXT” or “SWITCH” the instant you catch yourself in the middle of a negative thought or self-defeating question. Then, at once replace it with a positive thought, affirmation, or an empowering question. Simply overwrite the old thinking with a new one. Replace “I’ll try” with “I’ll do it.” Instead of “I should” say “I must.” Completely banish “I can’t” from your vocabulary. Almost immediately you’ll find that your mind switches its “polarity” and the negative thoughts pop up less. When I ask people what they want to achieve from their fitness programs, I generally get vague answers like, I want to get leaner, “I want to lose weight,” or “I want to build muscle.” That’s a good set up, but it’s not enough – it’s too general. Specific goals have a more powerful impact on your subconscious than general aims.

A vague aim is like the captain of a ship saying, “Go west.” The ship may be headed in the right general direction, but without a specific purpose, it will probably get lost at sea. Narrow it down. Be specific – right down to the digit. Exactly how many pounds do you want to lose? When do you want to establish your goal? How much body fat do you want to lose? How much do you want to weigh? What measurements would you like to have What size clothes do you want to dress in? You must have a way to objectively measure your progress; otherwise you’ll never know whether you’ve in fact reached your goals or not. The mirror is definitely a useful tool, because ultimately the only thing that really matters is that you’re happy with the way you look. Though, because you perceive changes in your body so subjectively, (and it’s sort of like watching the grass grow), it’s also helpful to have other ways to gauge your results.

The scale is also a valuable tool, but it doesn’t give you 100% of the feedback you need. You shouldn’t be as interested in how much you weigh as in how much body fat you have. The best fast diet method to measure your progress is body composition testing. Body fat can be easily measured using a skinfold test. Chapter three will talk about body composition testing methods in more detail and chapter four will teach you how to chart your progress and understand the results. Too often, people shortchange themselves and make statements like, “I could never look like that” or “I’m too old.” Other people buy into the low determinations of well-meaning family or friends who tell them to “be realistic.” Nothing great was ever achieved by being realistic! Most people get scared when setting objectives and ask only for what they think they can get, not what they really WANT. This is a mistake because puny, “realistic” objectives are NOT motivating. WANTS are motivating.

It’s okay if your objective scares you a little. In fact, if your goal isn’t scary and exciting at the same time, then your objectives are too low. Thinking about a big goal you’ve never achieved before is always going to make you feel a little uncomfortable and terrified. This discomfort makes most people pull back into their comfort zones. Don’t let the fear of failure or the feeling of discomfort prevent you from going after what you actually want. Always step forward into growth; never pull back into safety. Refuse to sell yourself short. Raise your standards. The prominent architect Daniel Burnham said, “Make no small plans; they have no magic to stir your blood to action. Make big strategy, aim high in work and hope.”

Looking for Eat Stop Eat

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

There’s a very simple explanation for the cabbage soup diet FRAUD. There’s really no need for further explanation. But for those who insist here is more.

The inventor of the cabbage soup diet isn’t known. It first appeared in the early 1980s, faxed from person to person like a chain letter. The diet went under many names, often using a part of the name of a well respected institution such as the Russian peasant diet, or the St. Jude’s diet. But in reality the diet had nothing to do with many of these namesakes.

The cabbage soup diet calls for drinking nothing but water or unsweetened fruit juice on days when juice is allowed. A general outline of the diet is something like this.

Day one — cabbage soup and any fruit except bananas.

Day two — cabbage soup plus vegetables, which could include a half baked potato with no butter.

Day three — add vegetables and fruit to the daily cabbage soup, but no bananas or potato.

Day four — cabbage soup +8 bananas and skimmed milk.

Day five — cabbage soup, six tomatoes and up to 20 ounces of beef.

Day six — cabbage soup and as much of beef and vegetables as you can eat, no potatoes.

Day seven — Along with cabbage soup eat brown rice, vegetables and unsweetened fruit juice no potatoes.

The cabbage soup diet claims that people can lose 10 pounds in only one week. What the diet doesn’t specify is that most of that weight loss would be water. Nutritionists agree that it’s just not possible to lose 10 pounds of fat in only one week. What the cabbage soup diet could accomplish in a week is to make someone sick from eating poorly.

In addition the cabbage soup diet isn’t easy. Not because it’s too complicated, but rather because seven days of cabbage soup becomes monotonous. It was common for people to last only a couple of days before quitting. There was even an attempt to spice up the cabbage soup diet with new recipes, but that failed.

Realistically people don’t need a fad diet like the cabbage soup diet to lose weight. A program of exercise plus cutting down calories than what you normally eat on a day-to-day basis can be very effective.

3 Fat Burning Interval Training Workouts to Lose Stomach Fat

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Old school fat loss is out, and new school fat burning workouts are in. Shocking research from Australia shows that short, interval training workouts are more effective for fat burning than long, slow aerobic cardio workouts.

In the study conducted at the University of New South Wales, women who used interval training lost more belly fat than women doing cardio – even though the cardio workouts were twice as long!

At first, my clients have a hard time believing that they can cut their workout time. Most people, like my client Nick, were used to doing long, slow cardio workouts. Every book, every magazine, and every other trainer they ever talked to always said they needed to do long cardio workouts to burn fat – sometimes trainers even said they had to do the workouts first thing in the morning on an empty stomach!

But research shows that isn’t true, and when Nick switched over to interval training, he lost 4 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Plus, everyone loves shorter workouts. As a busy lawyer and parent of two young boys, Nick doesn’t have time to be wasting at the gym. So intervals have been a godsend for him.

Here are three of the interval training workouts that Nick does to burn fat. (Make sure you do a thorough warm-up before and a cool-down after each workout.)

The first interval program is copied straight from the Australian research study that found the best way to burn belly fat was to use intervals, not long, slow cardio. Subjects in this study trained three times per week, and alternated between 8 seconds of hard exercise and 12 seconds of easy exercise for 20 full minutes.

This workout is tough to do on cardio equipment at your gym because it is hard to speed up and slow down so fast. But you can do this with a jump rope, or by running in place, or you can do it outside running or biking.

However, if you only do interval training inside on cardio equipment, it will be easier for you to stick to classic “sports-training” intervals. I first started using these with athletes for fat burning over 10 years ago, and they work great inside and outside.

After a warm-up, do six intervals of 60 seconds of hard exercise followed by 60-120 seconds of easy exercise. If you are a beginner, take it easy and don’t work too hard in the work interval phase, and also take 120 seconds to recover. As you get fit, you can work harder in those 60 seconds and decrease your rest periods.

If you do a 5 minute warm-up, followed by 6 intervals of 60 seconds work and 60 seconds rest, you can finish with 3-minutes of cool-down for a 20 minute workout. If you are a beginner, do fewer intervals (3-4) when taking longer rests, and you’ll also be done in 20 minutes. You can do these workouts on any cardio machine in the gym.

Finally, you can also do timed bodyweight intervals in the comfort of your own home, and these are my new favorite interval workouts. In fact, I’m off to do one right now after I finish this article!

You can use a simple stopwatch or gym timer to help you out. Set up the intervals for 15 seconds of exercise and 15 seconds of recovery. Do bodyweight squats for 15 seconds, then walk around the room for 15 seconds. Repeat this 8 times. You can follow that up with the same protocol for lunges (doing 6 rounds), pushups (doing 3-4 rounds), and even planks (doing 6-8 rounds).

The time flies on this workout, and you get a total body workout that isn’t boring like cardio. You’ll be shocked by how effective these three interval training workouts are for fat loss. Do interval training only three times per week in combination with 2-3 strength training workouts, and you’ll sculpt a lean, beach body in 6 weeks or less.

Lemonade Master Cleanse DetoxificationReview

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

The lemon master cleanse is being touted as one of the best new “Hollywood Diets” on the market. This is a major misconception and one that we need to address before we go any further. People have fasted for thousands of years and will continue for many more, it is not a bad thing in itself, but if you go back to eating junk and are just doing it to lose weight it could kill you. The Master Cleanse was designed by Stanley Burroughs in 1976 and has a full book that goes along with it. I would highly recommend reading the book prior to starting the cleanse if you chose to do it.

Personally I have done the Master Cleanse twice and have had wonderful results. Did I do it just to lose weight? NO. I will NOT now or ever support this detoxification program as a fad diet, though you obviously will lose weight while you are on it. I had many other beneficial results from the cleanse though. Let us begin with the ingredients for the cleanse and we can go further into the results this combination give you.

The recipe per serving is as follows: 1 cup distilled/filtered water, 2 tablespoons Grade B Maple Syrup (organic if possible), 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon (half of a regular lemon is usually this amt), and Cheyenne to taste. You need to drink at least 12 glasses of this a day to get enough calories and you should not be working out while you are on detoxification. You can drink as many as you want but you need to drink at least 12. Along with a colon flush once a day and a Smooth Move tea at night.

If you do not drink enough or try to work out too much you WILL do damage to your system due to the fact that your body will start to attack it’s fat stores which is not the goal. Drinking the minimum you will get just over 1000 calories, it is more than enough to survive but not push yourself to excess. People have said that lemon master cleanse is bad for various reasons including calorie intake, though with the maple syrup this is definitely not the case. The reality is that people have been fasting on much fewer calories than the lemon cleanse has you ingesting for literally thousands of years.

The lemon and the Cheyenne work together to exfoliate the lining of the intestines and when you do your colon flush (once a day) you help to push the exfoliated “gunk” through the intestines. This was the hardest part of the whole program for me. Here are some tips for getting the salt water flush down that I found helpful! The colon flush consists of drinking 32 ounces of water with 2 teaspoons of uniodized salt. This does NOT increase your blood pressure as the salt is never absorbed by the body. The salt is used to weigh the water down making it more dense than blood. This additional weight causes the water to “push” through the intestines and flush the stuff that has sloughed off the intestinal walls with the lemon and the Cheyenne.

Often we treat our bodies like we do our cars. We abuse them in so many ways. An old saying from the rodeo is “rode hard and put up wet”. The detoxification is a way to “reset” your system, clear out what you have put through it. This often takes more than one go round, personally for me it took a second go round.

In today’s world many try to take the “easy” way out or cheat, which this program does not allow. If you cheat or don’t follow the procedures for weaning yourself back onto food you can suffer serious consequences. Yet, if done correctly, it can help to completely detoxify your body which can help with many things. Some of the things that have been attributed to the cleanse are positive results with: diabetes, eye sight, blood clots, blood pressure, weight, IBS, cessation of smoking, weight loss, and much much more.

Personally I had wonderful results both times that I performed the detoxification as did my husband, but I do feel that you need to do the colon flush. It was a safe effective way for us to address our eating habits and clean up our bodies. While it is difficult, the results were wonderful for us. I intend to do it again in another 3 months and will keep a running journal of it just like I did the previous times.

Most Popular Hoodia Gordonii Supplement

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

If you haven’t heard about the Hoodia supplement, there’s no doubt you will very soon. Hoodia, a natural appetite suppressant, is earning attention as a potentially powerful weapon in the war against obesity and the American focus on losing weight. Hoodia dietery supplement were just introduced to the U.S. market in early 2004.

You can start by doing a little bit of research about Hoodia diet supplement so that you can tell the truth from the advertising hype. Hoodia is a cactus-like succulent plant that only grows in the regions near the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. The San Bushmen living there regularly eat hoodia to kill their hunger on their long hunting expeditions. Western scientists analyzed the hoodia plant and discovered a molecule in the hoodia gordonii plant, which they named P 57. Further testing found that it is this molecule that makes the plant a wonderful appetite suppressant.

It is really miracle what this plant can do to our body. As a modern day hunter hunting and searching for anything in the concrete jungle, this weight loss will let you survive the modern lifestyle without compromising your health and your wallet’s health as well while doing away with all those ugly and excessive body weight and fats.

Here are some key points about Hoodia Gordonii supplement that you need to know:
Hoodia gordonii looks like a cactus, but it’s actually a succulent from the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa. Bushmen from the area have been using hoodia for centuries to help ward off hunger during long trips in the desert.
Hoodia gordonii is entirely natural — it is not a drug. Pharmaceutical companies find it so promising, however, that they are trying to isolate the appetite-suppressing molecule, P57, to create a patented diet drug in the future.
Only the gordonii variation of hoodia has appetite suppressant abilities.
Consumers who use this Hoodia weight loss supplement on a regular basis generally get a feeling of fullness and satisfaction, and in the long run, their desire for consuming more food is significantly reduced.

Individuals are advised to first talk to their physician before starting this diet regimen, if only to avoid any health complications that may arise from the user’s present health condition. The dieter who relies on use of this Hoodia Gordonii supplement can function for longer without a desire to eat. This resulting effect of delayed eating helps in achieving the desired weight loss target.

Self control only lasts so long and then we give in and we end up over indulging. A Hoodia Gordonii supplement will help you lose weight without starving, in fact the focus will not be on food, but for healthy purpose!

Hoodia Diet Supplements - Natural Weight Loss

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

The natural appetite suppressant Hoodia Gordonii extract is one of the most highly sought after weight loss aids on the market today. Introduced to Americans in 2004, Hoodia Gordonii is a plant extract from South Africa that helps men and women dramatically alter their weight through suppression therapy. Historically, it is said that travelers throughout the Kalahari Desert in South Africa would use the meat of this succulent plant to stave off hunger during long treks.

There have been literally millions of words published about Hoodia cactus extract and its remarkable ability to curb hunger and suppress appetite through the active ingredient it contains. Out of all these millions of words, little has been debated about the different ways hoodia can actually be ingested. A few of these ways include by powder form, as pills or tablets, or the famous one by Hoodia liquid .

Not only does this South African plant give you up to six hours of appetite suppression, but it does so naturally and effectively without risk. There are no drugs in this supplement and, in its pure form, it has been found to give dieters dramatic results. Some companies do offer a Hoodia Gordonii extract , but this delivery method is questionable at best.

Many people think that it does not matter how they take their hoodia gordonii: as long as hoodi thin gets into the stomach. But that is not correct. Just like any other kind of nutritional or medical product, there are several delivery methods–some of which are better or worse than others.
Hoodia gordonii is often delivered in the form of pills or tablets. One problem with this delivery system is that many people do not like taking pills! For such people, Hoodia diet supplements is ideal.

While it is impossible to guarantee that Hoodia Gordonii will work for everyone, it does work for most people, safely and consistently, with no real side effects. After taking this supplement, your brain essentially thinks you’ve already eaten when you haven’t. Therefore, it doesn’t think you are starving and won’t store fat in an effort to “save” you (which is why simply “not eating” causes many people to initially gain weight).

On the other hand, when Hoodia extract is use it is more or less absorbed immediately by the body, and the majority of people should start to experience the effects after a relatively short time. Hoodia gordonii extract has a far superior absorption rate compared with the tablet or pill, while simultaneously giving you similar or more often than not, better results than the tablet variety even when taken at much lower dosages.
